Manchester United close to Ighalo extension

Manchester United are said to be close to agreeing a loan extension with Shanghai Shenhua for forward Odion Ighalo, according to a recent report from Sky Sports.

For a while it seemed as if Ighalo was going to be heading back to China with both parties unable to come to an agreement. Now, though, the extension seems to be on the cards as talks continue – with some suggesting that it can be concluded before the end of the day.

The extension would run until the end of January, ensuring that Ighalo will be able to play a leading role for United once the Premier League gets back underway. Despite some eyebrows initially being raised when he was first brought into the fold at Old Trafford, Ighalo has been able to prove a lot of people wrong by thriving as one of their leading men in the last few months prior to the lockdown.
