Manchester United are close to signing Raphael Varane from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window, according to ESPN. Spanish giants Madrid are prepared to sell the France international central defender, and that has given encouragement to the Red Devils.
United have stepped up their efforts to sign Varane after France got knocked out of the European Championship. The Premier League powerhouse are confident that they will be able to bring the 28-year-old to Old Trafford for €50 million.
Varane is one of the best centre-backs on the planet and is a world-class player. The defender has won the La Liga title thrice and the Champions League on four occasions with Madrid. The 28-year-old would make United a better and more solid team at the back and would be a blockbuster signing for the former Premier League champions.
