The Mirror understands that Manchester United could make a move for Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel should they lose David De Gea this month.
Schmeichel has been in fine form for the Foxes this season, helping them to joint-top of the division with a string of impressive performances.
His father Peter is widely considered as the greatest goalkeepers in the Red Devil’s history and he could be set to follow in his footsteps should they need to find a replacement for current number one David De Gea.
De Gea has long been linked with a return to Spain with Real Madrid keen on agreeing a deal for the twenty-five-year-old.
The La Liga giants will be keen to conclude negotiations this month as they will be under a transfer ban come the end of the season.
The former Atletico Madrid man is keen to remain at Old Trafford though a big-money offer is likely to tempt the Premier League club into doing business.
