Manchester United deserve to be Premier League champions

Manchester United face North West rivals Wigan on Wednesday, knowing that they lead the race for the Premier League title by eight points.

Manchester City have crumbled in recent months and have allowed their arch-rivals to take almost complete control of the title race.

Form

Manchester United have a very handy habit of finding good form when it comes towards the end of campaigns.

United have now won nine and drew one of their last ten Premier League games. That is definitely league title winning form.

Manchester United’s consistency has been the difference between the Red Devils and their city rivals Manchester City, who have struggled under the weight of expectation.

Average

This Manchester United team is often described as average and I think that’s a good description of the current United team. A lot of the current players wouldn’t have got into the great United teams of the past.

In fact the likes of Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes were in some of those great modern teams, but they were much younger in those days. They are both very much in the twilight of their careers, yet have played a role in what looks like United’s latest title triumph.

Signings

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson strengthened his squad this summer, after the clubs 3-1 defeat to Barcelona in last seasons Champions League final. The Scot realised that his squad wasn’t strong enough and needed more players.

Although Fergie brought in David de Gea, Phil Jones and Ashley Young, United were even poorer in Europe this season, going out of the Champions League in the group stage and only making it through one stage of the Europa League.

However the new signings have ensured that Manchester United have been strong enough to stay ahead of their rivals in the domestic game.

Both Jones and De Gea are young and were likely to have ups and downs in their first season at United. Jones enjoyed a good run earlier in the season but has suffered a slight dip in form recently.

Young Spaniard De Gea had a rather uncertain start to his United career, as people questioned whether he was good enough to play for the champions. However in the last few months the young Spaniard has hit form and played his part in United’s good run of form.

Spirit

A lot of credit must go to Sir Alex Ferguson for keeping this set of players focused and keeping the spirit in his squad high. The spirit in the United squad is extremely high and it’s been one of the key factors in United staying at the top of the English game for so long.

Arch-rivals Manchester City have proved that their team spirit isn’t strong enough to see them over the finish line. United’s winning mentality and team spirit has been the difference between the two Manchester teams.

Champions

If Manchester United win the Premier League title then they will have deserved it. This seasons Manchester United’s team may not be the best in the history of the club but they deserve the crown just for their spirit and doggedness.

Do Manchester United deserve to win the Premier League title?

While they do have some fantastic players, my reasons for not wanting City to win the title (besides being a Red Devil myself) is because of the bad attitudes that players like Balotelli like to show, and also Tevez’s nonstop complaining about Manchester.

No they shouldn’t as i would like to see City as revealing new fresh faces as champions. United are a great side and they simply deserve and ha ve won many a silverware, but City have fought, struggled and shivered throughout and are a more deserving side so i will hope and pray for them. City have improvised in real norms and i think they are excellent.

Manchester United is more consistent that anyone else in the league, hands down. City doesn’t have the experience that United does, so of course they have been faltering. Exactly how many times have we seen United struggle in early spring for a few games, only to still go on and win? And when they don’t struggle, they still win more often than not.

Consistency is key. Hustle beats talent when talent doesn’t hustle. And City’s talent isn’t hustling at the moment anymore, and Arsenal had too much of a bad spell earlier this season before they picked up the slack. United has still kept consistency for the most part, especially more than a certain team that has practically attempted to buy the league title. . .

Its a combination of factors really. Trully speaking, the current United team’s weakness is there for all to see.

We couldn’t handle small teams in the Champs League and then in the Europa League we were put to the sword by a team lying fourth in La Liga.

I think our position is very misleading and Ferguson should be very worried. SFA should seriously plan for big changes/reinforcements for next season especially central/defensive midfield, central/left defence and playmaker positions.

^^^^ You’re having a laugh if you don’t believe they deserve the title. Consistency wins titles. Not much else to say really.

I think you are wrong, you say if arsenal played like this all season they would be killing it, if man utd played like they did in the beginning they would have killed it, we have a huge amount of points considering the games played, the highest in a few seasons, last season we won with 80 points, now we are at 79 points with 6 games left, ifwe finish with 97 points or 94, it means we have had an amazing season.

In response to your question, I’d have to say no. It looks to me as though Manchester United isn’t going to win the title through their own quality, as much as they will through the other contenders’ quality, or lack thereof. If it weren’t for Man City’s meltdown, the summit of the Premier League would look very different. If Arsenal had played the entire season as they are now, we would see the Wenger’s men gunning (no pun intended) for the championship. The same applies to Chelsea. The race for first in my opinion has been lackluster, though it was heavily hyped in the beginning, even by this very site if memory serves.
