Manchester United eyeing Xherdan Shaqiri

Daily Express is reporting that Manchester United are in pole position to sign Swiss midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri from Bayern Munich.

Liverpool and Juventus had earlier expressed their interest in the 23-year-old footballer, but the Red Devils seem to have emerged as favourites for his signature.

Namely, Bayern Munich have notified the interested sides that Shaqiri would be available for £18 million and the latest report suggest Manchester United are ready to match the asking price.

Xherdan Shaqiri has shown a lot of promise since joining Bayern from FC Basel, but he has been unable to establish himself as a first team regular at Alianz Arena.

The Switzerland star has made it clear that he plans to leave the Bavarians in search of first team football and there is a good chance he will be on the move in January.

Manchester United face a high-profile game against Arsenal next weekend, with the Red Devils priced at 11/5 to emerge victorious.
