Manchester United interest in Wolfsburg hotshot confirmed

Manchester United have enquired about the possibility of recruiting Swiss full-back Ricardo Rodriguez, according to the defender’s agent.

With Marcos Rojo mostly used in the heart of defence and Luke Shaw struggling to make an impact at Old Trafford, it appears Louis van Gaal will attempt to bring the Wolfsburg star to England.

Ricardo Rodriguez has a long list of admirers among top European sides, and his agent has suggested Manchester United and Real Madrid are keen.

“I can say that United have called for information, but that Wolfsburg do not want to give in. With Real Madrid there was nothing official,” agent Gianluca di Domenico told La Gazetta dello Sport.

Rodriguez recently signed a new deal until June 2019 at Volkswagen Arena, with his release clause standing at just over €30 million.

The Switzerland international is best known for his attacking qualities, and he has managed 3 goals and as many assists in 18 Bundesliga outings this term.

After enjoying a 3-1 triumph over Inter in the first leg of the Europa League last 16 stage clash, the Wolves are 1/3 to see off Freiburg at the weekend.
