Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Marc Cucurella on loan from Chelsea. According to Fabrizio Romano, they’ve made contact with the London Blues to enquire about potential conditions of such a deal. No concrete talks have taken place as of yet, as the Spaniard is only one of three options the 20-time English champions are contemplating to replace injured Luke Shaw.
Former Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount is currently also out of action and expected to miss up to six weeks, and United boss Erik ten Hag has revealed that he expects Shaw to remain out longer than that.
Meanwhile, Cucurella, who joined Chelsea from Brighton in 2022 for close to £60 million, hasn’t been able to establish himself as a starter for Mauricio Pochettino, with Ben Chilwell firmly ahead in the pecking order on the left flank. He spent all three games the Blues have played this season on the bench.
But after the club sold Lewis Hall to Newcastle a couple of days ago, it remains to be seen if Pochettino is willing to allow his only alternative for the role leave as well.
