Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly has emerged as a January transfer target for Manchester United.
The highly rated Senegal international could leave Partenopei this winter with La Liga champions Barcelona said to be long linked with a move for the £88 million valued centre-back.
According to Sunday Times, however, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has asked the Red Devils vice-chairman Ed Woodward and United’s officials to join the chase for the defender.
The United boss appears to be enjoying trust and confidence despite producing another low-profile performance in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Chelsea and is said to be now almost begging for defensive reinforcements.
Mourinho believes Klulibaly would bring instant improvement at the back and is hoping that Woodward could agree to spend big in order to bring the Senegalese star.
Anopther name being heavily linked with Manchester United is Nikola Milenkovic who appears to have been identified as the second-choice option behind Koulibaly.
