Manchester United join race for Ganso
Manchester United have joined the race to sign Santos midfielder Paulo Henrique Ganso, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Sir Alex Ferguson is still looking to add a quality player to the midfield area and he is reportedly keen on Santos playmaker Ganso.
The Scottish manager has turned to the Brazilian after his move for Wesley Sneijder fell through and is now pondering a big money move for Brazil’s number 10.
The 20-year-old playmaker is a target for both Milan and Inter, and has already hinted at a move to Serie A, but could change his opinion after being informed of Manchester United interest.
Milan were thought to be on the verge of signing the youngster, but the Rossoneri decided to pursue other targets and they now fear that Manchester United could hijack their bid for the midfield maestro.
Following the impressive showing at the 2011 Copa America, Ganso is ready to move to Europe, although Santos want to keep him at least until January, when they take part in Club World Cup.
Felipe Melo set to join Galatasaray
Juventus midfielder Felipe Melo is on the verge of joining Galatasaray, the Turkish club have revealed.
The Brazilian midfielder has found himself surplus to requirements following the arrival of Antonio Conte and was widely tipped to leave the club this summer.
Melo and his agents were in talks with several Brazilian clubs, but the player has recently revealed that he has received a hefty offer from a European club.
It has now been revealed that the club in question is Galatasaray, with the Turkish giants announcing the deal was close to completion on their official website.
According to L’Equipe, the 28-year-old will be loan to Galatasaray for the fee of €2 million, while the Lions will have an option to make the transfer permanent before the end of next season.
Juventus paid €25 million for Felipe Melo in 2009, but the player has failed to live up to the expectations even though he has shown some improvement in the second season at Olimpico.
He is now hoping a move to Turkey will help him kick-start his career and make his way back to the national team.
Melo will thus become Galatasaray’s fourth big name signing this summer, with the Lions already securing Tomas Ujfalusi, Johan Elmander and Fernando Muslera.
Mazzarri adamant star trio will stay
Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri has moved to deny reports that star players Ezequiel Lavezzi, Edison Cavani and Marek Hamsik will leave the club this summer.
The star trio has been at the centre of heavy transfer speculations this summer, but it now appears that they will remain at Sao Paolo after all.
Napoli boss believes that all three players are very motivated to help the team in the forthcoming season.
“Sometimes it is better to give in to a player who wants to leave as he is no longer motivated but that is not the case with us. Cavani, Lavezzi and Hamsik will remain at Napoli – that is their wish,” Mazzarri told club’s official website.
“I spoke to Marek just yesterday and I could tell he was looking forward to starting the new season. He is keen to stay. He is an attacking player with unique qualities and in my view, he must not be sold.”
The only one who could be sold is Argentine forward Ezequiel Lavezzi, who is followed by Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid.
“Like with all players, he is in the hands of his agent. I hope he makes the right decision. The player has a release clause and we cannot do anything. I would hate it if he were to leave.”
