Manchester United are in pole position to sign Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, according to Sky Sports.
Current Red Devils’ number one David De Gea continues to be linked with a return to Spain with European Champions Real Madrid confident of securing a deal at the end of the season and Jose Mourinho has identified Schmeichel – whose father Peter famously played at Old Trafford with distinction for a number of years as his top target.
The 30 year old shot stopper only signed a new deal with the Foxes last summer after helping them land an unprecedented league championship though he may be unable to resist a lucrative offer, with his former club Manchester City also interested.
Since moving to the King Power Stadium, Schmeichel has racked up over two hundred and fifty appearances for the East Midlands club in all competitions while internationally, he has been capped twenty-four times for Denmark.
