Manchester United are interested in signing Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona in the summer transfer window, according to 90min. The report has claimed that the Red Devils almost secured the services of the Netherlands international midfielder last summer and could make a move again for him this time around depending on his availability.
It remains to be seen if Barcelona would willing to sell one of their players after a season in which they beat bitter rivals Real Madrid to the La Liga title. Although the Blaugrana have financial issues, losing De Jong would affect how they perform on the pitch.
De Jong made 29 starts and four substitute appearances in La Liga for Barcelona last season. The midfielder scored two goals and gave four assists in those games. The Barcelona no. 21 also played twice in the UEFA Europa League, two games in the Copa del Rey, and made two starts and two substitute appearances in the UEFA Champions League for Xavi’s team last season.
