Manchester United are interested in signing David Raum from RB Leipzig, according to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg. The well-known and well-respected journalist has reported on X that Raum is on United’s short-list for the left-back role.
Plettenberg wrote on X: Excl | David Raum is another player Manchester United have on their radar and on the shortlist for the vacant left-back position. Already last summer, there were concrete discussions, including about figures, between MUFC and Raum.
“As a left wing-back, the 26 y/o is considered to be a very good fit for Ruben Amorim’s new system. His development is being closely monitored. His agency, ROOF, has excellent connections to the Premier League. Contract with RB Leipzig valid until 2027. Currently injured (ankle).”
Raum has been on the books of RB Leipzig since the summer of 2022 when he joined from TSG Hoffenheim. The Germany international left-back is injured at the moment and it is not clear at the moment when he will be back to action. It is likely that United, who could sell Marcus Rashford in the January transfer window, could wait until the summer of 2025 to make a move for Raum.
The 26-year-old gave one assist in six Bundesliga matches for RB Leipzig and played twice in the UEFA Champions League this season before his injury. Raum scored two goals and provided eight assists in 31 Bundesliga matches and scored one goal and gave three assists in seven UEFA Champions League games for the German club in the 2023-24 campaign.
