Manchester United are interested in signing former Arsenal and Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud from AC Milan in the January transfer window, according to Foot Mercato. The report in the French news outlet has claimed that Premier League giants United have tested the waters for the France international, who is out of contract at defending Serie A champions Milan at the end of the season.
United are looking for a new striker following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. The former Real Madrid and Juventus forward had his contract with the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners mutually terminated in November.
Giroud has been on the books of Milan since 2021 and is an important player in the team. The 36-year-old helped France win the 2018 Russia World Cup and was a key figure for the European country, as they finished runners-up to Argentina at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
