Manchester United are reportedly keen to secure the future of Facundo Pellistri by getting him to sign a new contract. According to Fabrizio Romano, the 20-time English champions consider getting it done as one of their priorities at the moment.
Pellistri joined United at the end of the summer transfer window in 2020, and the following winter, he was sent on what turned out to be an 18-month loan to Alaves in order for him to get some regular game-time to aid his development. The 21-year-old winger has been back at Old Trafford since the summer of 2022, but he’s only made 12 appearances for the club so far, recording a solitary assist.
Nonetheless, with the future of Antony uncertain following domestic abuse accusations, as well as the recent fallout between manager Erik ten Hag and Jadon Sancho, chances are, United are going to need Pellistri’s attacking input on the right flank.
Pellistri’s current deal has just under two years left to run, and doing whatever it takes to avoid strong attempts to prize him away next summer certainly makes sense from United’s point of view.
