Manchester United could return for Portuguese defender Fabio Coentrao, according to Spanish daily AS.
The Red Devils had a deal in place to sign the Real Madrid defender on a season-long loan, but the transfer fell through as los Blancos failed to sign Guilherme Siqueira from Granada.
Coentrao has since remained on the fringes at Santiago Bernabeu, and it appears that he will be leaving his current employers at the earlist opportunity.
According to AS, Manchester United will return for the Portugal international in the January transfer window, as David Moyes doesn’t seem to hold Alexander Buttner in high regard.
Fabio Coentrao joined Real Madrid in a €30 million deal from Benfica, but never quite managed to prove his worth at Santiago Bernabeu.
Following the controversial midweek triumph over Elche, Real Madrid play host to Atletico Madrid next weekend, and they are 3/5 to defeat their local rivals on Saturday.
