Manchester United have rekindled their interest in Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, according to Sport Bild.
The Red Devils seemed to have given up on signing the Germany international, but they are now back in the race as the 24-year-old seriously raised his form after recovering from a difficult injury.
And while Borussia Dortmund officials are eager to tie down their prized asset to a new long-term deal, Manchester United plan to take advantage of the fact that his current contract is due to expire in just over a year.
The Millionaires are currently in talks with the midfielder’s agents, but it appears Gundogan will explore all avenues before he decides whether to commit his long-term future to the German giants.
The highly rated footballer has been in fine form this season, helping the club record four straight wins in the league, with Borussia now 8/15 to make it five on the bounce against Hamburg.
