Manchester United have begun contract negotiations with Michael Carrick, according to the Mail Online.
The thirty-five year old midfielder, who is currently in his eleventh season at Old Trafford has impressed enough under manager Jose Mourinho to earn a new deal.
His current deal is set to expire at the end of this campaign, when he would be able to find a new club on a free transfer.
Carrick’s 2016/17 season started slowly with the England international not starting a Premier League game until November though he has managed to rack up twenty-five appearances for the club in all competitions and even scored a rare goal in a 3-1 League Cup victory over Northampton Town back in September.
During his time with the Red Devils, the former West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur man has won five Premier League titles, two League Cups, the FA Cup and the Champions League.
