Manchester United open talks with Romero

Manchester United are in talks with Sergio Romero over signing a three-year deal, according to the Mail Online.

With David De Gea strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer and fellow Spaniard Victor Valdes on his way out of Old Trafford, the Red Devils are on the lookout for a new shot-stopper, and manager Louis van Gaal has identified Romero as his prime target.

The 28 year old has been a free agent since leaving Sampdoria at the end of last season, and has also been linked with a move to Serie A side Roma.

In four years in Italy, the Argentina international racked up seventy-one league appearances though he spent the 2013/14 campaign on loan at Monaco.

He has sixty-two caps for his country, and was part of the squads that attended both the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa and last summer’s tournament in Brazil.
