Manchester United have reached total agreement with Ralf Rangnick over the vacant managerial post, according to multiple sources, and the official announcement from the club is expected shortly.
Rangnick has come out top of the list of candidates the 20-time English champions considered for the role, though it will still be a temporary appointment. He is set to be in charge of the team for the remaining part of the season, while the club focus on getting a permanent solution next summer. Mauricio Pochettino has been named the leading candidate for that, though his current employers Paris Saint-Germain still deny any contact from anyone on the subject.
Former midfielder Michael Carrick has been standing in since the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and has overseen a win over Villarreal in the Champions League and a Premier League draw away to table toppers Chelsea so far. He is expected to stay in charge for the upcoming match against Arsenal too, unless Rangnick’s working permit comes through sooner than expected.
