Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport understands that Manchester United will reignite their interest in AS Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman in January.
The Red Devils had been eyeing the Netherlands international even before Louis van Gaal took over the reigns at Old Trafford, and the experienced coach agrees he would be excellent addition to the squad.
Manchester United opted against pursuing their interest this summer as Strootman is still recovering from knee ligament injury, but they will be making a move on January.
While making a number of quality signings up front, the Red Devils are extremely short of options in the centre of the park and they are prepared to pay top dollar to lure the Netherlands international to Old Trafford.
Kevin Strootman, 24, developed into a key player for the Giallorossi shortly after arriving from PSV Eindhoven last summer and has managed 5 goals and 6 assists in 25 Serie A outings.
