Daily Mirror has suggested Manchester United plan to sign Portuguese midfielder William Carvalho from Sporting Lisbon.
The Red Devils have been hot on the trail of the talented footballer since the start of the season and they are reportedly ready to meet his £37 million release clause ahead of the 2014 World Cup.
Manchester United boss David Moyes is desperately searching for midfield reinforcements and he has instructed the club officials to try and lure Carvalho to Old Trafford.
A number of Europe’s top sides are showing interest in the 21-year-old, but the Premier League giants are the only side prepared to match his release clause.
William Carvalho has exploded onto the big stage this season and he looks set to nail down a place in Portugal’s World Cup squad.
His suitors Manchester United defeated West Ham on the road yesterday afternoon and they are priced at 9/4 to see off Manchester City on Tuesday.
