Manchester United set to sign Gaitan
Portuguese media outlet A Bola has learned that Manchester United are on the verge of completing a deal for Benfica winger Nicolas Gaitan.
It is no secret that the Red Devils are keen on the Argentine footballer, but it appears they have finally made their interest concrete.
According to A Bola, the deal is close to being wrapped up, with Manchester United reaching an agreement over a €30 million transfer fee.
Seeing as Angel Di Maria has largely struggled at the start of his career in England, the former Real star could be sold this summer and replaced with Nicolas Gaitan.
The 27-year-old has had a key role to play in helping Benfica secure back to back league trophies and the club chiefs decided to cash in on his services this summer.
Provided there are no last minute problems, Gaitan will challenge Ashley Young for a place on the left hand side next season.
Barca close on Vidal
La Liga champions Barcelona are stepping up their efforts to sign Sevilla full-back Aleix Vidal, according to Sport.
The Catalans are in the market for a right-sided defender after Daniel Alves all but suggested he would not be extending his deal at Camp Nou.
Sport has learned that Sevilla’s Aleix Vidal has surprisingly emerged as Barcelona’s top target over the last couple of weeks.
While the player’s release clause stands at €25 million, the Catalans are reportedly prepared to offer around €10 million, as well as allow los Rojiblancos to sign Denis Suarez on permanent deal.
Despite joining Sevilla as a right winger, Vidal has impressed since being converted to right back and he now looks set for another big club move.
At the same time, Barcelona are showing interest in Sporting Lisbon full-back Cedric Soares, but the club officials are waiting to hear Luis Enrique’s verdict on the Portuguese defender.
Zenit eyeing Joao Moutinho
Russian champions Zenit are considering a summer move on Monaco midfielder Joao Moutinho, Sport Express has learned.
The club from Sankt Petersburg could stay without key player Axel Witsel, who is heavily linked with a summer switch to Juventus.
Zenit, therefore, plan to try and lure Joao Moutinho to Russia, with Andre Villas-Boas hoping to get reunited with the player he coached at Porto.
The Russian giants first attempted to recruit the Portugal hotshot some three years ago and they hope to be more successful this time out.
Joao Moutinho, 28, has enjoyed a great season with Monaco, having managed 4 goals and 6 assists in 37 league outings, while also producing some strong performances in the Champions League.
He is followed by few more top European sides and it remains to be seen whether he will be interested in moving to Russia.
