Manchester United should sell Paul Pogba

It seems that whenever a transfer window rolls around Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is a hot topic of conversation. It is hard to ignore the transfer rumours linking the star with a switch away from the Red Devils.

Well, surprise surprise, according to the Daily Express, United have set a price of around £70million for the France international, who has struggled to make an impact this season due to injury. They are reportedly not looking to trigger a 12-month contract extension.

Can be a world-beater on his day

On sheer potential talent, Paul Pogba is arguably one of the best midfielders on the planet on his day. He has everything needed to be a world-beating midfielder, as he showed for France at the last World Cup. The problem is, for some reason he seems to blow hot and cold for United.

He goes through purple patches of form that make it seem like he is set to fulfil his potential, then for some unknown reason his form drops and he becomes almost invisible. Some have questioned his attitude or his motivation to perform at his best for United. Pogba is no doubt a good player, but it seems he is not enjoying his time with the Red Devils.

Interest in the midfielder

Since he can perform to such a high level, there is always going to be interested in his services. Spanish giants Real Madrid have been consistently linked with the midfielder. There is little surprise that Los Blancos are the favourites to be Pogba’s next club at odds of 3/1.

However, Italian giants Juventus and Inter are also reportedly interested in acquiring his services in the next transfer window. The former are of course where he made his name before a big-money return to Manchester in 2016. Pogba seemed to thrive in Turin. A return to his former club certainly cannot be ruled out.

Inter have big ambitions to compete with Juventus for the Scudetto with former Chelsea head coach in charge of the Nerazzurri. The Italian raided United last summer to sign Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez on loan. With United open to selling the midfielder, then a switch to Milan is not unrealistic. Inter would have to break their transfer record for a second straight summer though, after Lukaku’s arrival last summer. Pogba would certainly not come cheap that is for sure.

United must be sick of the speculation

Maybe it is not Pogba’s fault that his future is discussed seemingly permanently. However, his agent Mino Raiola is known as a man who likes to do a deal in an attempt to fill his and his client’s pockets. A switch would obviously mean a big signing on fee.

From Manchester United’s point of view, they must be sick of hearing the speculation about Paul Pogba’s future. I know its ironic that I am now writing about his future, but it simply to suggest that it may now benefit United to take the money and move on from the French midfielder.

Is he ever going to fulfil his supposed potential in Manchester? It seems doubtful, as he has struggled so far. United are reported to have a number of midfield targets who could produce more tangible results for the team in the near future.
