Manchester United step up chase for Kieran Tierney

Premier League giants Manchester United are already laying down summer transfer plans following a disappointing season in the Champions League.

Having surrendered the Premier League race to runaway leaders Manchester City, the Red Devils are prepared to further bolster their ranks and launch a more ambitious domestic run next term.

Jose Mourinho’s summer transfer strategy already has the name of Celtic defender Kieran Tierney highlighted, according to Daily Record.

United’s scouting team has been impressed with the Scotland star whose versatility had been the main selling point with Jose Mourinho himself.

The 20-year-old is equally good in all positions across the backline and can be a valuable option at centre-back and in full back slots.

Jose Mourinho prefers players who can operate in a wide range of systems and formations and is said to have sanctioned a move for the Celtic star this summer.

Tierney signed a new six-year deal with the Scottish champions last October and will not come cheap.

Celtic are likely to demand a fee upwards of £20 million for their starlet.
