Manchester United still want Alderweireld

According to a recent report from Tuttosport, Manchester United could make an offer for Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld during the upcoming January transfer window. His contract is set to expire at the end of the current season, meaning that a cut-price fee could be agreed between the two parties during the upcoming window.

Alderweireld has made it known that he is interested in the possibility of leaving North London, and Manchester has been viewed as a realistic destination for him – but during the summer, talks went quiet pretty quickly.

United have quite clearly hit a bit of a wall during the current season, and while some will point to their defensive issues, it seems as if their lack of a major attacking threat is equally as responsible for their decline.

If they are going to bring in Alderweireld, then you’d think they would want to do it sooner rather than later, if only to try and preserve the tenure of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
