Manchester United to battle for Varane

According to a recent report from AS, Manchester United are set to battle Chelsea over the signing of Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.

The belief right now is that Madrid will ask for at least €70 million, but that would only happen if a legitimate bidding war went down.

United have seemingly been the frontrunners for as long as we can remember to try and sign Varane, but such is the unpredictable nature of English football that Chelsea have now thrown their name into the hat.

Varane has already won so many big trophies during the early stages of his professional career, but something tells us there’s plenty more to come as we look ahead to the future.

United may not be the complete package right now and neither are Chelsea, but both sides offer up cause for optimism heading into the next few years – and Varane has to find some appeal in that.
