Having appointed Erik ten Hag as the new manager at the end of last season, Manchester United spent around £215 million to sign left-back Tyrell Malacia, centre-back Lisandro Martinez, midfielder Casemiro and winger Antony, adding midfielder Christian Eriksen on a free transfer and goalkeeper Martin Dubravka on loan from Newcastle to their ranks on top of that.
Nonetheless, the club are set to continue backing the manager financially in the transfer market, and according to the Daily Express, they’ve prepared another £100m towards new signings in January. Ten Hag is believed to be targeting a new right-back, a midfielder and a forward, though the report doesn’t mention actual names at this point.
It feels, on the other hand, that United are well stocked in these departments, which would probably mean a number of departures from the club in the near future. The players whose continued employment at Old Trafford appears in doubt right now are forward Cristiano Ronaldo, who reportedly sought to leave throughout the summer, and right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has completely lost his place in the team to the resurgent Diogo Dalot.
