According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Manchester United have decided to sell Antony this summer, should a suitable offer for his services arrive.
The Brazilian winger joined the 20-time English champions for a fee of close to €100 million in 2022 from Ajax, where he played under current United boss Erik ten Hag, but he has made nowhere near the impact expected for such an expensive signing. His spell at Old Trafford is likely to be remembered more for the fact that he missed a large chunk of this season due to an investigation into alleged assault allegations, than his achievements on the pitch, though United fans will surely remain grateful for the fine goal he scored against Liverpool in the quarterfinals of the FA Cup.
Be that as it may, United are obviously keen to regain at least a part of the funds invested in him two years ago, as well as to reduce their wage bill.
There have been no takers yet, but United are hopeful a club interested in the 24-year-old will get in touch soon.
🚨↩️ #Antony, #ManUTD – as told – would like to part ways with him in the summer to repay – in part – the investment and to lighten team salaries.
❌ To date, no one approached the 🏴 club showing interest in the 🇧🇷.
🤞🏼 #MUFC hope that things will change in the coming weeks. pic.twitter.com/0tyvxwqcqA
