Manchester United are interested in signing Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona in the summer transfer window, according to talkSPORT. The report has claimed that United manager Erik ten Hag was keen on bringing his Dutch compatriot to Old Trafford in the summer of 2022, and that he still wants the midfielder in his team for next season and beyond.
The report has claimed that Ten Hag has told his United bosses that he wants De Jong in his team for the start of next season. Ten Hag wants the Netherlands international to play alongside former Real Madrid defensive midfielder Casemiro in the middle of the park.
De Jong has made 17 starts and four substitute appearances in La Liga for Barcelona so far this season, scoring two goals and providing one assist in the process. The 25-year-old has also made two starts and two substitute appearances in the UEFA Champions League and played twice in the UEFA Europa League for Xavi’s side this campaign.
