Manchester United are interested in signing Giorgio Scalvini from Atalanta in the January transfer window, according to Fichajes. The report has claimed that Real Madrid are also keen on the 20-year-old centre-back, but United are ready to make a move for him in the middle of the season.
Atalanta have set a price-tag of €50 million on Scalvini. The Serie A club will not sell the Italy international central defender for anything less. The report has noted that although United have Financial Fair Play (FFP) issues, they could spend big on the defender, who they want as a potential replacement for Raphael Varane.
Scalvini has been on the books of Atalanta since 2015 and has come through the youth system to establish himself in the first team. The defender has made 15 starts and one substitute appearance in Serie A so far this season, providing one assist in the process. The youngster has also scored one goal in four UEFA Europa League matches for Atalanta this campaign.
