Manchester United are interested in signing Sam Johnstone from West Bromwich Albion in the summer transfer window, according to ESPN. Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are also keen on securing the services of the 28-year-old English goalkeeper, it has been claimed.
United are looking at Johnstone as a potential replacement for David de Gea. The Spain international goalkeeper has lost his place in the starting lineup to Dean Henderson, and the Red Devils are looking at potential targets if he decides to leave.
Johnstone was on the books of United from 2009 until 2018 when he moved to West Brom on a permanent contract, having had loan spells at Preston North End and Aston Villa among other clubs. The Baggies are likely to get relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season, and it is hard to see the 28-year-old stay at The Hawthorns beyond the summer.
