Roberto Mancini says a move for Sergio Aguero will depend on whether Corinthians and Manchester City can strike a deal for captain Carlos Tevez.
The Italian, speaking after the club’s 2-1 friendly win over the Vancouver Whitecaps on Monday, revealed that talks are ongoing between Tevez and the Brazilian side, and hinted that City will move for Aguero in the next few days.
When asked about making a move for the Atletico Madrid striker, Mancini said: “At the moment I don’t know. Maybe in the next days. I didn’t speak with Garry [Cook] and with the chairman, I don’t know what’s happened. Yes, I think so [a bid depends on Tevez].”
The City boss added that he is unsure how close Corinthians are to completing a deal for his star striker.
“I don’t know because I slept tonight and this morning we had a game, but I think they continue to talk about the deal. No, I haven’t spoke to him because I have only one number and it doesn’t work at the moment. I don’t know [the chances of the deal being completed].”
Meanwhile, Mancini has confirmed that the injury picked up by Yaya Toure in City’s win over the Whitecaps, who led at half-time in the pre-season friendly, is not as serious as first feared.
“I think he’ll be out only three or four days,” he said. “I don’t think it’s too serious.”
