Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has revealed that he wants to keep Carlos Tevez and Edin Dzeko at the Etihad Stadium despite the club’s interest in Arsenal standout Robin van Persie, according to Express.
Both Tevez and Dzeko have been linked with German Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, but the Italian manager is having none of that.
“Both will stay at City,” said Mancini. “We are a great team and we try to keep all our great players. It won’t be easy but they will stay here.
“We still lack a couple of players to reach [the level of] Real Madrid and Barcelona. Also our mentality has to grow season by season.”
Tevez helped lead City to their first league title since the 1967-68 season following his return from exile.
The Argentine tallied four goals and three assists in 13 league appearances for City last term.
Meanwhile, Edin Dzeko bagged 14 goals and three assists in 30 English Premier League matches, but was out-of-favour for much of the second half of the 2011-12 league campaign.
With that said, Dzeko scored against Queens Park Rangers on the final day of the season after replacing Gareth Barry in the 69th minute, sealing his place in Manchester City history forever.
Will the Premier League champions retain the services of Carlos Tevez and Edin Dzeko? We shall see.
Modric nears Spurs exit
Luka Modric is close to joining European giants Real Madrid, the Daily Mail understands.
Los Blancos are nearing a £30 million move for the Croatian, but Spurs are reportedly negotiating for an extra £5 million in add-ons, while Madrid are just willing to add £3 million to the deal.
At the moment, Modric looks destined for a move to the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. Spurs want to cash in on their prized asset, while Real Madrid are looking to bolster their attacking arsenal.
Surely it’s just a matter of time before Spurs and Los Blancos negotiate a deal that will send Modric to the Spanish capital.
