Mancini: I told Moratti to sign Cavani and Hamsik

Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has revealed that he wanted to sign Napoli duo Edison Cavani and Marek Hamsik during his time at Inter.

Mancini says he recommended Edison Cavani to Inter president Massimo Moratti soon after the Uruguayan had arrived to Italy.

“Cavani was the first attacker that I recommended to Inter President Massimo Moratti,” Mancini told Il Domani dello Sport.

“You can ask Moratti about it. I saw Cavani in action during his second game in Italy when he appeared at San Siro.”

Mancini also claims he was the first one in Italy to recognize Hamsik’s potential.

“It’s the same scenario for Hamsik. I was his first fan in Italy.”
