(GSM) – Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini could quit the Eastlands club for a summer return to Italy with Juventus, according to reports in the English press.
The former Internazionale boss has reportedly met with Juventus director general Roberto Bettega to discuss the possibility of taking charge when current coach Alberto Zaccheroni stands down from his caretaker role at the end of the season.
After Juventus’ 4-1 Europa League defeat to Fulham, it is believed that Zaccheroni chances of holding onto the job on a permanent basis appear dim and Mancini is reportedly the latest name to be considered for the position after Fiorentina’s Cesare Prandelli and Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez
“It would be hard for Roberto to turn down the Juventus job,” a source was quoted as saying in the Sunday Mirror.
“It is seen as the biggest job in Italian football – the equivalent of being asked to manage Manchester United in England or Real Madrid in Spain.”
Mancini has previous experience of succeeding Zaccheroni, having taken over from the current Juve boss at both Lazio and Inter Milan, where he went on to win three Serie A titles.
