Tuttosport has learned that Inter coach Roberto Mancini has made Liverpool’s Lucas Leiva one of his primary targets in the January transfer window.
The former Manchester City boss wanted to bring the Brazilian to Stadio Giuseppe Meazza back in 2007, but the midfielder then opted to join Liverpool instead.
And while he has enjoyed several successful years at Anfield, Lucas is no longer considered an important member of the squad at Merseyside and he reportedly wants to leave in search of first team football.
Lucas hopes to play himself into the plans of Brazil coach Carlos Dunga and a move to Italian Serie A appears on the cards.
Roberto Mancini remains a big fan of the 27-year-old and he hopes to make things right this winter.
Leiva, who is also on the radar of Napoli, already holds an Italian passport and his current deal is due to expire in June 2017.
