Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini wants to bring Chelsea forward Daniel Sturridge back to Etihad Stadium, according to Manchester Evening News.
Despite being touted as one of the hottest prospects in English football, Sturridge was sold to Chelsea for mere €5.8 million in July 2009.
After being mostly restricted to substitute appearances during his first two years at the club, the promising forward was finally given a real chance to shine by Andre Villas-Boas.
However, he was relegated to the bench soon after Roberto Di Matteo took over and is currently unhappy with his position at Stamford Bridge.
Manchester Evening News claim that Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini plans to offer the player an escape route from Chelsea at the end of the season.
The Italian manager admitted his interest in the 22-year-old earlier in the season and he is expected to make a move in the summer.
Sturridge has been in fine form this season, having scored 10 goals in 25 Premier League appearances in spite being used on the wing.
