Marseille goalkeeper Steve Mandanda has added fuel to speculations linking the France international with a move to Monaco.
The Principality Club attempted to sign the 28-year-old in the summer transfer window and Mandanda admits he was attracted by the club’s project.
“It’s been quite a few years at OM. There was an interesting challenge on the other side (Monaco),” the shot-stopper confessed to L’Equipe.
Monaco are still on the lookout for the new goalkeeper and they could make a move on the Marseille captain if their attempt to sign Victor Valdes from Barcelona falls through.
Steve Mandanda came through the youth ranks at Le Havre and made 67 league appearances for the club before joining Marseille in 2007.
The keeper quickly commanded a starting berth at Stade Velodrome and went on to feature in 232 Ligue 1 matches for the French giants.
His side currently sit no less than seven points behind league leaders Paris Saint-Germain and they are no less than 66/1 to lift the Ligue 1 title this season.
