Mane plays down Real interest

Liverpool’s Sadio Mane has poured cold water over speculations about his future amid reports of interest from Real Madrid.

Given the departures of Liverpool’s top players in Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona in recent years, Spanish media outlets have been working hard on maintaining the picture that the best players of the Merseyside club would still be targeted and tempted by Spanish giants, despite Liverpool reaching two consecutive Champions League finals.

Stories constantly appeared last season about Real wanting Mohamed Salah, but given what happened between the Egyptian and Real captain Sergio Ramos in last year’s final, they realized new material was needed so they turned to Mane. However, according to Paul Joyce of The Times, the Senegalese forward said that he is happy at Liverpool. He considers it a compliment to attract interest of big clubs, but he’s more than happy to remain a part of the team that “beats big clubs”.

Joyce believes Mane therein clearly explained why there is no need to leave Anfield.
