Sadio Mane has decided he wants to leave Liverpool this summer, one year before his contract expires, according to Fabrizio Romano.
With Liverpool locked in a contract stand-off with Mohamed Salah and his representatives, there has been plenty of talk about Mane and his future over the last couple of months. Bayern Munich have apparently expressed a strong interest in his services as a potential replacement for Robert Lewandowski, and Romano says the Bavarians remain a strong candidate to land the 30-year-old Senegalese.
Having joined Liverpool from Southampton back in 2016, Mane has gone on to win practically every trophy on offer in club football, including the Champions League, the Premier League, the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup, along with the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup. In all competitions, he scored 120 goals and produced 48 assists in 269 matches for the Reds.
Recent reports coming from Germany suggested Bayern were confident about signing Mane for a fee under €50 million, which, frankly, doesn’t really seem plausible. Liverpool are likely to demand more for one of their best players, even if he does have a year left on his contract.
