Barcelona have made FC Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala their number one target in the January transfer window, reports El Mundo Deportivo.
The Catalans plan to add a high-profile central defender to their ranks in the winter and Gerardo Martino has reportedly drawn up a list of targets.
And while the list also includes the names of Mats Hummels and Eder Balanta, El Mundo Deportivo has suggested that Eliquim Mangala is the primary target.
The only problem is the player’s €50 million release clause and the fact FC Porto are not really prepared to negotiate lowering the asking price.
Eliquim Mangala, 22, is also followed by Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City, but it looks as though he will be staying at Estadio do Dragao for the foreseeable future.
His current club lead the chase in Portuguese Primeira Liga and they are priced at 1/2 to win their fourth successive league trophy.
