Diego Maradona braved the searing heat of a Dubai summer as he led his new team, Al Wasl, out for their first training session.
The 1986 World Cup-winning captain carefully assessed his latest pool of talent ahead of the new UAE Pro League season which begins in September.
Al Wasl finished sixth last season, and Maradona has promised to improve the way they play the game.
The footballing legend’s last coaching role was with his national side Argentina, but his time there ended in July last year after the country’s football association voted unanimously not to renew his contract.
The decision followed the team’s 4-0 thrashing by Germany in the World Cup quarter-finals in South Africa.
However, Maradona clearly still has confidence in his methods as he is sticking with the same assistant coaches he used last time – Hector Enrique and Alejandro Mancuso.
