(GSM) – Argentina coach Diego Maradona has hit out at Real Madrid and their general manager, his former international team-mate Jorge Valdano.
Maradona accused Valdano of favouring non-Argentine players. El Pelusa hoped Fernando Gago would find another club in January because of his lack of regular first team action at Real. But a move to Manchester City stalled at the last moment.
“We have a huge rival,” Maradona said. “Real Madrid and Jorge Valdano!
“They practically ruined Gabriel Heinze, he wanted to clear Fernando Gago out and now Gonzalo Higuain must be next because he is scoring more goals than Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo together.”
Maradona went on to reveal his disbelief that Valdano could favour another player ahead of an Argentine international.
“I had a good relationship with him (Valdano), but the fact that an Argentine could hold back another Argentine sounds disgusting to me.”
