Maradona to play in Dubai charity match

Diego Maradona will feature as a player in the upcoming ‘Friends of Libya’s Children’ charity match, which will be held in Dubai on November 8.

A star-studded line-up will be present to strut their stuff for charity and Maradona will certainly lead the stars in a bid to raise funds for the children of Libya, who have been suffering in the midst of political chaos in the country.

Organiser Jehad Montasser, an ex-Libya international, told Sport360: “Diego Maradona has told us he will play and we really hope he keeps his word as we know everyone would like to see him on the pitch.”

“Our sole purpose of arranging this match is to create something special and raise funds for the innocent children hurt in Libya. I am so grateful that so many friends and colleagues have agreed to help this cause and I can’t thank them enough.”

Former European Player of The Year Pavel Nedved will be present as well alongside the likes of David Trezeguet, Robert Pires and former Manchester United midfielder Nicky Butt.

Not only that, World Cup-winning superstars Fabio Cannavaro and Marco Materazzi have also confirmed their participation in the event.

The golden line-up will also feature Japanese legend Hidetoshi Nakata, Brazilian midfielder Ze Roberto, gigantic Jan Koller as well as Argentina’s Javier Zanetti and Hernan Crespo.

World Cup-winning coach Marcello Lippi will be on the touchline alongside Al Nasr coach Walter Zenga.
