Former Italy boss Marcello Lippi has agreed to take over the reigns at Guangzhou Evergrande, according to Corriere della Sera.
The experienced coach has been out of work since leaving the Azzurri after the 2010 World Cup.
Lippi recently revealed that he was contacted by the Chinese side, but denied an agreement had been reached.
However, as Corriere della Sera reports, Guangzhou wealthy owner Xu Jiayin has finally persuaded the Italian to accept his offer.
The Italian newspaper claims that Lippi will be earning around €10 million per campaign, which would make him one of the highest paid coaches in world football.
Guangzhou Evergrande are reigning champions in Chinese elite division, having won the league title with 15 points to spare last season.
The squad boast several high-profile players such as Dario Conca, Cleo and Zheng Zhi, and the club chiefs believe that Marcello Lippi’s appointment would attract more quality players from Europe.
