Marcelo acknowledges favourites tag

Real Madrid fullback Marcelo says his team are the favourites in every match and competition they compete in.

La Liga leaders Real are preparing for the first leg of their Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

And Brazilian left-back Marcelo knows the visitors from Spain will be expected to come out on top at the Allianz Arena.

“We’ll do our best to win in Munich. Real Madrid are favourites in every championship and in every game, but we will stay humble in order to earn a victory,” Marcelo told the club’s website.

“We must only think about our Munich match now. We’re in good form, but the match will be difficult and tough.”

Real equalled their club record of 107 goals in one campaign as they came from a goal down to defeat Sporting Gijon 3-1 on Saturday, and Marcelo was full of praise for his team’s forwards.

“We have many forwards capable of scoring several goals and we want more,” he said.

“Cristiano (Ronaldo) has no limits and we have to take advantage of all the strikes he nets for us. The team is strong both physically and mentally.”
