“I don’t think much about the future, I like to live in the moment. But it’s really hard to leave the club that you played your entire life,” Marcelo told a news conference.
“I’m not scared about the future. I’ve done what I wanted here and I’m looking forward to what’s next. Not with fear of uncertainty, but with excitement.”
Marcelo has confirmed that he will not be retiring from professional football despite leaving Real Madrid this week.
The 34-year-old, who has been part of the furniture at the Bernabeu since back in 2007, is heading out on his own to try and discover pastures new after agreeing with Real to part ways.
The veteran is said to be undecided about where exactly he’s going to go with his next move but one thing is for sure – retirement isn’t on the table.
He’s also ruled out going back to his homeland of Brazil, largely because he wants to keep playing in Europe with the allure of the Champions League.
