Paraguayan midfielder Marcelo Estigarribia has signed a one-year loan deal with Sampdoria.
The newly promoted side announced the news on their official website, stating that the player had been signed on a season-long loan with an option to buy.
The 24-year-old has spent last season on loan at Juventus from Deportivo Maldonado, but the Bianconeri opted against making the transfer permanent.
Estigarribia returned to Paraguay after his loan deal with Juventus ended, but only to be shipped out to Sampdoria few weeks later.
The talented midfielder showed some promise in Turin, scoring 1 goal in 14 Serie A appearances, but that wasn’t enough for the Serie A giants to offer him a permanent deal.
The player, who began his career at Cerro Porteno, has previously had spells with Le Mans and Newell’s Old Boys.
Estigarribia is Sampdoria’s third high-profile signing this summer, following in the footsteps of Maxi Lopez and Lorenzo De Silvestri.
