According to a recent report from L’Equipe, Marcelo will now not be leaving Real Madrid in the summer after all. The Brazilian defender lost his place in the starting XI when Santiago Solari was in charge, leading many to believe that he would start looking elsewhere – which is exactly what he did. The rumour mill suggested that he was very eager to link up with former Real teammate Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus, with the suggestion being that Zinedine Zidane could also make the jump over to Serie A too. However, now that Zidane has made his return to the Bernabeu, his plans seem to have changed.
Marcelo has been a featured member of the Real first team since back in 2007 when he first signed, establishing himself as a club legend in the process. He has also been a regular for the Brazilian national team, dating all the way back to his senior debut in 2006.
