Opening this weekend’s fixtures sat just two points adrift of breaking into the top-four, the one-time Barcelona boss will be smelling the chance to make another statement here. Punching their spot in this season’s Copa del Rey final as they landed a famous 4-0 aggregate victory against Atletico Madrid, Bilbao are unbeaten in all of their previous 10 appearances across all competitions. Continuing to shine with their displays at the back and not conceding a single goal in almost 300 minutes of action, Valverde’s men are rightfully tipped as a standout contender here. While Alaves might have drawn a line under their five-match winless run last week as they snatched a 1-0 victory against Rayo Vallecano, Saturday’s guests certainly face a real challenge here.
